Project description

The Drouet hydroelectric power plant, located in the Artibonite region of Haiti, is the second largest hydroelectric power plant of EDH. Commissioned in the early 1980s, it had gradually become largely inoperative due to the obsolescence of its equipment. In order to restore its production capacity and support the economic and agricultural development of the region, a comprehensive rehabilitation project was launched.

The operation aims to put the facility back into service while optimizing its energy performance through the renewal of electromechanical equipment and the adaptation of existing infrastructure. The project specifically includes the installation of more efficient turbines, which will significantly improve the facility’s efficiency and increase its renewable energy production. Ultimately, the renovated plant will reach a capacity of 3 MW with an estimated annual production of nearly 15 GWh, thereby contributing to the strengthening of the region’s electricity supply.
