Project description
Commissioned in 1971, this hydroelectric structure exhibited recurring issues that led to numerous reinforcements works over the decades. Despite these costly works, carried out under particularly constrained access conditions, the dam and its counter-dam remained in a state of advanced deterioration.
Following a thorough assessment by SCP, which highlighted the unsuitability of the weir profiles for the river’s hydraulic conditions, SAPHIR initiated a comprehensive program for the renovation and securing of the structure. This €10 million project aims to sustainably restore the hydraulic and structural performance of the Bras de la Plaine intake.
Services provided by SCP:
- Modification of the hydraulic profile to improve the performance and safety of the structure.
- Reinforcement of the flow surface, cutoff walls, and foundation protection.
- Relocation and modification of the fish passage.
- Installation of flow measurement devices, bird deterrent devices, and improvement of the sub-riverbank collection drain upstream of the main dam.
